Yes an no...
Pretty rare that anybody is looking out for your best interest: especially a stranger when it comes to your business/money.
I feel bad for them: but at the same time they are representative of all the new entrants to the industry that think they have a plan and they will set the world on fire with some new way they do things.
Maybe one day I'll see something that really does change trucking in a big way- but spending ### loads of money on equipment to start a business you don't know anything about, in an effort to run at a lower operating cost to net more money on lower rates....
Sounds like a dumb plan to me.
@TripleSix has that good story about the two ######. Accurate analogy to say the least.
Running into a new business you don't know about and throwing your beliefs behind someone who has their own interests and not yours on their mind- seems like a pretty fast road to failure. Fast is relative: what'd it take here, 11 months?
I feel bad for these folks on a personal level: we all know people in our own lives that have made decisions for themselves, that were clearly foolish to everyone but them.
Just gotta shake your head and move on with your life.

But in the end it cost him nothing. His detractors hated him more, but his sycophants still buy his advise, and no money out of pocket for him.OLDSKOOLERnWV, rank, Terry270 and 3 others Thank this. -
I don't think it cost KR nothing, maybe in dollars, but his reputation took a hit as well as PP had some people say never again. Tuition in the school of experience, just how do you price that?

It's now a bad thing to experiment with new ideas and to try to lower operating costs so one keeps more money?
Good thing nobody thought about putting a Diesel engine in the old gasoline powered trucks -
Professing to be an expert giving "expert advice" when in fact, one is only a paid endorser- that is a fairly consistent explanation for those of us that run successful businesses as to why following advice of a radio show host that isn't taking any risk: isn't wise.OLDSKOOLERnWV, rank, spyder7723 and 7 others Thank this. -
