    Really?

He is a mentor, not a trainer.

I agree but not some, all of it.

Don't matter, I assume he was the one who signed for the load, he had it decked and he had drove it off in the sunset, not you. SO in my opinion it is all on him no matter what the name is on the ticket.

Any company that would leave you holding the bag isn't one worth driving for.

In Florida it's like .05 cents a pound. Been a few years since getting busted. But the trainer should have had you scale the load. In the future I would scale every load . And you should know the empty weight of tractor trailer with normal running fuel load.

Why is it crazy? The truck can handle it and so can the roads. A 25 dollar permit gets you 92k lbs on 5 axles in most states. While i dont advocate running overweight, your part reads add if it's dangerous, which it certainly is not unless the driver makes it so with poor driving habits.

All this for a $70 ticket? It happens. Lesson learned.

My truck scales both tractor and trailer and gives you a reading of steering, drives and trailer and is very accurate within 100 pounds gross.

Nothing dangerous about 83'000 lbs up here in Canada it's roughly 87'000 lbs on a 5 axle with no permit every day... only issue is it's illegal in the states but by no means is it dangerous ...

They let you leave the scale with a divisible load while over gross? Is that an officer discretion thing? Never been caught over gross myself ...

I've never been forced to unload. Have had to get a permit, before i could leave. But i was only a few thousand over maybe 5 or 6 a time or two. might be a different story if you get caught 20k over.

I got one years ago where I was 4,000 over on the drives. Load was all the way up front of the trailer, bags of sand.
In Virginia it cost me $800.
