This is the point I was trying to make. I am in excellent position and can still run 6 or 7 miles on the weekend, do boxing workouts and maintain a decent six pack. It was still not for me at age 42. I just didn't think the grind was good on a body, its not a matter of IF you will get hurt it is when. Out of like 12 guys there were only two of us over 40. The other guy lived off Advil, etc. He would do anything to get out of that truck. They used to let him work sales a couple days a week to give him a break. No way picking out of a side load truck is good for a guy over 35 no matter how good of shape you are in. I held up good for the month I worked there, the only day I kind of felt it was a day when we did two liters all day. Those are really heavy by the case. Its not even so much the weight of what you are lifting it is the odd angles and the reaching.

Thanks UPS. I really appreciate the info. That's pretty much what I was thinking so it's very helpful to have that confirmed. I think I'm gonna pass on Pepsi. Maybe if I take a refresher course I can get on with a local freight or delivery company. Thanks.

Yeah, I thought there were a couple things that were deal breakers for me, one was the abuse on the body and the other was the lack of overtime pay and long hours. The law changes Dec. 1 for the overtime pay, but as of last week when I left Pepsi was still silent about how they were going to conform and how our pay was going to work.

The company benefits were great, and it was a great start for me to move into another state, establish residency and put in other applications to find something more suitable, so mission accomplished there. Now if I were a 20 something kid I would consider it for the long term as you could gut it out until something else came up.

    Good luck.

I've done most anything for Pepsi as a Driver and was recently promoted to Delivery Supervisor/Driver Manager. If you have basic questions, hit me up.

I have a question about getting employed by pepsi. I went to my interview and then today i got the email saying they are offering me a contingent job as delivery driver. I accepted. Well my dilemma is dr.pepper declined a job offer to me recently due to my MVR. I am wondering if pepsi has the same standards as dr.pepper. Does anyone know? My MVR contains 3 points from 1/18/2015, it was considered a major violation. It was driving while suspended unknowingly due to insurance lapse (this was before I obtained my CDL license) and a minor violation for no seatbelt. I did have insurance but they will not remove the charge because I paid the fine so they say that automatically puts me as guilty. Anyway, these are the only points I have. So basically my question is does anyone know pepsi's driving record requirements. I did ask in my interview and the hiring manager said he was not sure that the background check company they use decides on it.

If they have extended you an offer then you should be good. I have a guy stuck in a holding pattern because we are waiting on his backgrounds to come back before they can extend him and offer. Pepsi uses a third party service for recruiting so they handle all backgrounds, MVR, DAC, etc. So, it's in someone else's hands at his point; however, he can call them and speak with about it so you and them are not in the dark about the situation.

Just saw this post today...add my bit. I've had a contingent offer from Pepsi now since about nov20th for a delivery driver position in FL, still waiting on news after the background and drug screen. OTR so did it and the phyisical @a plant in TX...today I saw a position for bulk delivery at the same facility pop up and applied for that position too...seemed to be a better gig, even got an appointment for an interview in a week or so...I'm trying to be patient but the wife is pressing me hard to come home.

Bulk is a cake walk job...easiest there is at Pepsi besides transport. Bay is hard. A lot of beer guys come over because we throw less cases and then leave a few months later because of how difficult it can be. It is a much harder job than it sounds. The backgrounds can take a while for a few reasons. One being if you have had several driving jobs. Trying to get all the info back can take a while vs a rookie with one other driving job. Also having lived in several states within the last ten yrs can take time to get all this backgrounds back as well.

I've been with Pepsi over 15 years. Getting off the sideloader after the first of the year and moving to transport. at 52 years old its time for a change.
