Our Phoenix agent gives those to us. They are required on some of our real high. Dollar loads. But as mentioned, they can be broken.

A lock only keeps honest people honest. Thieves like easy targets and if you have one on the truck and one on the trailer that may be too much time and exposure for them.

They do have LoJack for trucks...and for those that are worried it will allow the DOT to track your movents to compare to a logbook...it's only activated when a vehicle is reported stolen. I know this doesn't help get the current truck back, but for future units it's an option.

I was told they break the shafts on the brake valves, so they can't pressurize the systems.
I guess if they didn't snap off clean and some of the stem was protruding, you could push them down with a screwdriver, or something.
    I use it.

    A cheap tracking device.

Get a burner phone. Activate it on the cheapest plan for one month.

after the month runs out, dont renew it.

This part is important. Get the ESN of the phone and write it down, make copies and keep them at home, in your wallet any place that will not get lost.

Next, find a place that you can get 12 volt power from.
but not in an obvious place. Maybe in the bunk area, some place that you might not expect to find a phone.

Tap onto the 12 volt source with a power socket that will accept the phones charger. plug in the phone and turn it on.
Use some tape or othe method to make sure the power plug stays in and then secure the phone so it wont bounce around and get shut off. Also put it in silent mode, so it will not have or make any sounds.

Should you truck, car or what ever become missing, You can contact the company that the phones service is on and have them do a tracking of the phone. this is why you need the ESN. May be better to have the law enforcment agency you reported to make that call.

Whith constant power, the phone will be on, should the power be cut off, the phones battery in stand by mode should last a few days.

The service provider can ping the phone and see where it is. It will not be exact, but close enough to get an idea where to look and maybe find.

Why this works. All cell phones are required to be able to call 911. It does not matter if the phone has service or not. This is also why you need the ESN.
