That's why companies rely on your work history. They can't be sure who they are dealing with so they look at the clues. Does your history look like someone playing by the rules or not?

This is just my experience so take it for whatever its worth to you.
plenty of people around where I live who worked/lived on their family's property as teenagers/ young adults, who were payed cash. Went into trucking and other professional jobs without a problem.

That in and of itself isn't a big issue.
what most look for is that you have people who can verify that you were actually doing what you say.
If you don't have anyone to verify that, then you are probably going to fight a uphill battle for a while.

OP can be as picky as he wants but without a GED in his case he's never going to find above average company not even average for that matter. He better settle for whoever hires him which in his case is bottom of the barell employers.Even if he put in a year with that. company no real good company will hire him because him not having a diploma would make companies think he's a quitter and not showing legal work history since 2008 is a double whammy.I don't understand why the OP can't see. him not having a diploma is what's holding him back.My nephew quit school at 16 and he woke up and went back and got his GED.He found out it's not that easy finding work without a diploma.Plus he lost a few girlfriends for not having a job.May sound harsh but I called my nephew a loser, ,ithat was before he. decided to go back to school.

Isn't it only like 150$ for the GED exam? Can't you get practice tests online for free?
Makes me very glad to have finished High School, and even more thankful for the Teachers and Staff who worked with me to make it happen since I was in and out of the hospital at the time.

My point being with all the programs, and people who will bend over backwards to help. There is no reason someone can't finish their education. The only limitation is how hard you are willing to try.
