Keep in mind I haven't seen it but only going off past experience. Since it had new batteries recently and one is leaking I'm thinking voltage regulator is boiling the batteries. That is the first sign that it's on its way out which causes the alternator not to charge. On my trucks the voltage regulator is built into the alternator so replacing the alternator takes care if the whole problem.

Yours may not be made together but Hopefully tgey are

    baha Thanks this.

agree. put a meter on the alternator and see what kind of voltage its pushing out

His truck is a 2013. I don't think they've made external regulators in decades now.

I'm betting that all the batteries are bad.

I would have changes them all out, but it begs the question what was actually leaking, the batter case or the tops of the battery?

Why do I ask a question like this?

Because it is very unlikely that a battery will leak unless it is abused, if it out of the top, then it is being overcharged and that will ruin all of them, not just one.

ALSO I would replace the alternator itself while you have the chance.

I agree with all the above posts. I have had bad luck with the
local parts store 'rebuilt' alternators. I would spend the extra
    money for the new one.

O-Reilly used to have a " rebuilt" program for starters and
alternators. Came with a warranty........those things would
last about 6 months and than let you set out on the road
somewhere........they would replace it for free but you were
out the labor and down time.

First off if one battery is dead chances are the other ones are on the way out but my guess is you need a new alternator without looking at it.You need to hook it up and see what volts it's putting out.

I had a 2014 that done the same thing. Had all the batteries changed alternator everything. Turned out of be a ground cable from batteries to the frame

I replace all batteries, never just one. Delco-Remy alternators have regulator built in, I know that Leece-Neville used to have their regulators separate but that could be different now.

Some of the newer equipment I have worked on actually has the regulator in the ECM. Dummest idea ever IMO but they didn't ask me so lol. Honestly I could see Volvo doing something like that, since I don't work on them at all and not up to speed on them etc etc
