Looking for an idea of what new units out of Smyrna and Virginia beach are paying. Im looking at going back to pull from the yards again but have to increase my cargo coverage to sub for some large carriers. Want to get an idea before I increase it. Thanks

Here lately everyone seems to think that 30¢/mi per unit is the going rate

Wouldnt it be prudent to ask the carrier you plan to haul for how much the loads are paying? I dont think I would rely soley on the opinions or comments of some complete strangers for business advice. .30.cents per mile for new cars is hard for me to believe.

It should be hard to believe but it seems to be the norm now. This works out to .25/mi btw

Looks like typical broker ####. The other guy was asking aboug new car rates. Hansen and Adkins and Proficient are looking for some O/O's and company drivers, I would park my truck and drive for them before I hauled auction cars for those rates. You cwnt pay for a 280K car carrier hauling cars for .25 cents per mile.

This is my first rig leased to Hansen and Adkins and I am extremely happy. I have met many second and third truck owners with them who are doing very well. Most people wouldn't build a $300,000 rig if they weren't happy with the company they were currently leased to and keep that new rig with the same company. When I started I ran the road being gone 5 nights and some weeks tried very hard to see just how much I could make. I was pleased with the results most weeks. I currently am home most every night usually running 1short load a day, but should I want more work it is always available. I could easily spend the rest of my career doing this. I now have a reasonable work schedule, make a very good living and I am treated great. Just like any company some loads are great paying and others are not. The places I have found the load didn't pay so great it was usually ok once I added a unit or two. They usually build 9 car loads, unless they have mostly big units, but will give you more if you and your rig can legally handle more. It doesn't cost me any more to go down the road with 10 or 11 than it does with 9. How much you make is up to you within reason, but they are not going to tell you how to do it. They say the average owner op grosses $5,500-$6,000 a week with Hansen and Adkins. Nobody says you have to be average. There are drivers making less and some grossing $8,0000 a week. I have done both while being at Hansen and Adkins. At this point in my life I don't need or want the $8,000 because I want a happy median. I have chosen to gross less, but still net a very good income. I am biased, so just because I like something does not mean that anyone else will like it. In my opinion it is also very important to work with a company that treats you good. In this dept. Hansen and Adkins gets an A+ because nearly everyone I have met here has treated me great!

Hansen & Adkins managed to get through the auto industry nightmare from 2008 and be stronger today. That says something. Real Carhaul companies should not be confused with the Central Dispatch/Broker shenangians.
    Banker speaks excellent info.
