Where you at now? I think Marten treats drivers good for a mega and in any even that I am sitting around, detention is #### good. Also can't beat APU on trucks and luckily I have a terminal in my city so I always have parking haha!

I live in Abilene, TX. I make runs from Laredo, TX to IL, IN, IA, OK, PA, and NJ. All reefer loads from Mexico. Miles are good but pay is not. I get paid $50 every 24 hours I have to wait for a load. So if I wait 23 hours I don't get paid any detention...it's a real ####ed up game they have going on. Been thinking about going owner operator but with the way they have me waiting around all the time I'm lucky to pull in $700 a week after taxes. What account do you run with them?

Sounds like you're getting jerked. If I run 3K+ I make double what you make AFTER taxes. I run regional around Memphis south of i40 no further east than usually ATL. Back home Fridays and clear on a below average week $600, a normal week $700-$850, and on those "perfect" weeks around 1K+ home Friday lol. I barely run 1.5K miles anymore and still clear no less than $600 UNLESS I don't feel like driving. I was the #1 out of Memphis this year so I get any load I want.

Well I sent in my application yesterday. Hopefully they pick it up and hire me because I'll drop this truck back at Werner's terminal and take an Uber over to Marten and get started ASAP.

Just know there are ups and downs here too. Freight out of Laredo is slow I know for a fact. Only good thing about here is detention. They don't mind paying you here. Believe it or not, I actually loved Werner when I was there.

I don't believe that one bit! Haha jk. Werner has been decent to me. A ton of waiting around lately. But it's not terrible. Apparently in about 3 months I'll be get a 3cpm raise so that's cool. Why did you leave Werner?

I was "forced" to leave. Something in my personal life happened and they were tripping. Soon as they started acting shady, I quit!

Do you like Marten better than Werner? I just spoke with a recruiter this morning and she's just waiting on my desired orientation date. I'm attracted to the detention pay, the trucks having APUs, and inverters, and the holiday pay. Werner doesn't give a rats ### if it's a holiday or not, you still get paid bottom dollar garbage. Thinking about calling HR and putting in my two weeks with Werner.

Per diem is basically a pay for living expenses on the road that is paid tax free. So they lower your gross pay but you end up taking home more than you would without it. There are two problems with this that were described earlier, so you would want to contribute to the 401k and hopefully do not need a big home loan.
