I've owned quite a few radios in my day as I'm sure other members on here have too. just curious if you remember your first radio ??? and your favorite radio. my first radio was when I was about 16 years old it was a 23 channel kraco with a rotary dial. my favorite radio was probably the original connex 3300 not the hp..... that was back when everybody had or wanted a connex echo board in their cobra 29. connex sold a boat load of those boards... I got more compliments on that 3300 than any radio I've probably ever owned. but then it already came with the echo board talk back built into it-----not some hack tech who just threw in the board and talk back and said gimme my $$$
your first radio your favorite radio

I still have mine.. a uniden 76 xl. Probably the best radio I ever had.
I got into mod'n radios several yrs ago, and its been a good guinea pig over the years...been modded to hell and back, and hasnt fried yet lol. Currently sitting, mostly stock, with a 1969 final in it, waiting for a facelift.bored silly Thanks this. -
First was a a Radio Shack CB. If I remember right, it just had a channel knob and volume, and squelch. Favorite is the one Dad gave me in 1998 when I started driving. Cobra 29 Sound Tracker. Still have it in the truck now. It's one of those tuned ones like you mentioned. Done right, short money. Red nitro knobs, red meter light, red/blue RX/TX light, talk back and the newer Connex echo board. 636 mic, with Wilson 2000, mounted behind the bunk. It does its job.
HotRodConner12 and bored silly Thank this. -
Hy gainVb, mobile, base station, I had a cobra 135. 23 channels.
On base to mobile, we could talk to 15 miles reliaby, and base to base, 20 miles plus. In laws had them first, they switched to business band back in the 70s.
Skip was interesting, too.wore out, rabbiporkchop and bored silly Thank this. -
Cobra 25 was my first, and many radios later Magnum S-6 is my favorite. . Honourable mention to Stryker 955 for its audio quality, but needing an owners manual for every possible button was too much for me.

Turner Super Sidekick was another desk mic that was popular. -
My dad had a 23 channel uniden with a rotary dial with a whip that was a talking son of a gun lol. We had a Johnson messenger in the pickup. I had a 3300hp for about 15 years. Only had to work on it twice. The 3rd time Ray at West Memphis told me he might fix it but was sure it wouldn't last. So I bought a new one out of the case from him. The knobs are different it just isn't the clean crisp radio my first one was. I may try a 4300hp
bored silly Thanks this.
