Hello I'm looking for the right company to work for. I have had my CDL A for about 8 years . Worked for one of the mega company's when I first got my CDL A and drove for them for about 7-8 months. I decided to get out of the business due to trying to save my marriage ( unsuccessfully) and my son was at a young age . Now they he is older I am looking to get back into the business but have no experience in OTR. I have been driving a school bus for the last 7 years so I have been around larger vehicles that have air brakes . What are my options? And where do I look?

    DRAGON64 and Chinatown Thank this.

Many will want you to go thru school, or refresher course since its been awhile since you've driven combos or OTR. i would be willing to take a refresher course, if i was in your position (not knowing much but what you wrote) . Full on threee week course would be deal breaker unless i didnt find better options. And i might look for place that would roadtest you before wanting school/and or hire. Good Luck on your search

    Mike2633 Thanks this.

Everything he said, and @Chinatown can give much better advice. Also, what type of freight do you want to pull???

I'm in central Ohio about 30 miles east of Columbus my record is Clean as well as a clear DAC report . I have a tanker endorsement but have not hauled anything but dry van . Would be willing to look at flatbed and tanker jobs. I just wanna get my foot in the door again and do trucking the right way.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

Personally, I would suggest regional, so you have a good chance to be home weekends, or at least a day or two during the week. You could at least still see your boy that way. Up to you, ultimately, of course.

Never thought about that route . Is the money good? And would that qualify as experience if I decide to go OTR in the future?
