I have a 98 Dodge 1 ton 2wd dually with 85K original miles on it for sale. I'm asking $17k. With all the new electronic log specifications, this truck would be perfect because of the year model. It doesn't even have a crack in the dash. If anyone is interested, it's in Victoria Tx and I can be reached at grounddownllc@gmail.com. It has a 5spd transmission and is the quad can version. Body and interior are like new.

No sh**. Granted it had more miles, but I paid less than that last year for an '04 in great shape AND it has 4wd. The elog thing might make older trucks slightly more valuable but they aren't made of solid gold just yet.

I think people are just insane these days. Here locally, there's a 1996 extended cab 8' bed F250 4x4 for sale. Manual transmission & t-case, but autolock hubs. And only a 351 under the hood. Asking price is $10k.

12 years ago, I paid less than $5K for my 1996 F250 regular cab, 8' bed, 4x4 with a manual trans, t-case, and hubs. I've also got a 460 under the hood.

Back in 2011, I went to look at an '87 Ranger. V6, extended cab, manual trans & tcase. Asking $4K for it and I walked away. Dad only paid $6500 OTD for his '86...in '86. Granted that was just a 4-banger 5-speed 2wd regular cab long bed, but it was brand new. No way 24 years later that truck should still have a price tag nearly as much as it sold for new.

I don't know who's worse...the ones ASKING for that much, or the ones silly enough to actually PAY it!

I got one (98 early 12 valve) for $9k 11 years ago, it was from the original owner, well taken care of, loaded and clean.

Sold it for $15k five years later.

Those old Dodge Cummins trucks hold a decent value but $17k is insane.

Cummins fanboys think their trucks are worth more than gold. I'm not saying that Cummins is a bad engine, just the pathetic excuse for a truck they surround it with is. Owned one and the build quality of the truck was 7th tier IMO.

Nothing wrong about starting with a high asking price. Besides, these oldies do the same work as the "poor excuse for a truck" sold nowadays.

There's a difference between high and unreasonable. If he can find a sucker that hates money that much, more power to him but I don't see it happening. It reminds me of people on Pawn Stars expecting bags of money for their old stuff. "But that's what people on the internet are asking!" To which the response was, "Is that what they're asking or is it what they're getting?" Because there's a big difference.

This truck is valued at $8k clean trade and $10.5k clean retail on NADA and $9k trade and $11k private party sale in excellent condition on KBB.
