I just bought a 2011 retired Prime trailer with a Carrier X2 2500 unit. It came programmed with various presets for different commodities. I guess Prime wanted to idiot-proof these things from their drivers. My problem is that all of these presets have continuous run locked out and a lot of my shippers require it. Is there a way to over ride the presets and unlock the stop/start-continous setting or do I have to have the unit flashed and lose the presets?

Take it to a Carrier dealer and they should be able to remove all that admin programming and reset it to factory [non Prime] defaults. I can't believe they have continuous locked out of temps above freezing. Sub zero temps, cycle is perfectly acceptable, however there are times when the outside temps go below zero for extended periods, and you want to run frozen loads on continuous just to keep the unit/fuel in good operating condition until things warm up.

On a related note, we have a goofy shipper that wants loads ran at 0F - continuous, hardly anybody can/will run that load any way but cycle [probably at -10].

I ran one the other day that stated -10 continuous on the rate confirmation but the bill just said below 0. The Shipper said that as long as it stays below 0 it will be fine. I ran it on the "Miscellaneous Frozen" preset which is -10. Receiver marked the bill -5, -7, -9 and no O/S/D. (It was a load of frozen Smithfield pork products)

Don t quote me on it, but my last job had a old Prime reefer with intellisets. I think once you go into the menu, it asks you for intellisets, I hit no. But one time I accidentally went into intellisets and couldn t get out. I called the local Carrier dealer and they told me to disconnect the battery and wait about a minute or so and reconnect it. it got me out of intellisets

Run it on the fuel hog intelliset and it will run continous at any temp you want , that is how prime does it for customers who want continously run

Will it be set to defrost at regular intervals or will I have to defrost it manually?

It should defrost regularly, the cooling unit will actually shut off and on as needed , it just keeps the engine running continuesly

The company I work for uses the Intelliset settings on our carrier unit and it works fine. A perfect example is on say the strawberry setting. It has a range of 32 to 34 usually I would run strawberries at 33 and the intelliset system will make sure that it doesn't blow air cold enough to freeze the berries. Same thing on the lettuce setting or apples. When the reefer units are run without the intelliset system on on temps close to freezing it likes to blow air colder then 32, if its really hot outside it could blow as cold as 24 or worse and the last thing I want is to get to the receiver and find frozen product on the top layer.

2011 with a D13/435 & 10 speed. Other than the top radiator hose conning off the thermostat housing On hard uphill pulls twice on the first trip it's done well. I have since replaced the original plastic thermostat housing with the new metal replacement and new hose and that solved that problem.
