I remember buying them for $10 in the box new.

I've got maybe ten of them sitting around from those days, three or four still in the boxes.

They were setup for AM work at one time, but haven't used them in such a long long time.

I got three from an estate sale last year, they were sitting in the rafters of the garage with all kinds of antenna stuff, the guy's son said he wasn't into radios at all, he said this was all left from the previous owner of the house, so I walked away with my car loaded down with everything radio we could find for $100. I wanted to give the guy more but he said it is win for him, it was going to be tossed out in the dumpster the next day.

I agree, once you set the mod correct, you should not be able to tell by listening 2 watts or 200 it should stay clean and clear, if not you have a problem that needs to be attended to.

I never sent it to its grave. It got rebuilt with new mosfets. Needless to say it's going to be a Barefoot radio from here on out.
When Mark tells me not to connect it to an amplifier I pay attention and follow instructions.

I'm just glad it happened on his bench instead of at my house cuz that would have gotten really expensive having to pay shipping both ways plus paying for him to replace the finals. It almost would have been cheaper just to buy a new radio considering how cheap those things are from China.

Yeah well my magnum did the same thing it did before popped the main mosfet that pushes the 7530s in it and knocked out the audio chip again... the ice storm in Oklahoma helped do that for me... haven't had time to screw with it....so far my 4600 turbo has been a rock for me....

Wish you didn't work so many hours it would be nice for you or someone to build us a really good/better antenna than what's out here available to us!!! .predator-brownings-funky made are all sub par to me.... a better antenna is out there. It just hasn't been built yet.....

My antenna is really heavy and comes with it's own issues, but works great for folks that run power and don't mind to tinker.
