The broker you plan to deal with has 6 trucks? Guess who's trucks will be sitting when there is only work for 6 trucks. Guess who's trucks will be last in line for dispatch on a daily basis.

Just something else to think about in this "scenario".

Dude, let me tell you it is a bad situation you can get into, you will be left stuck without a recourse of getting your money out let alone making a profit of any sort if things go south. I would not trust a broker who has their own trucks to help you with anything other than filling his needs to move loads he will make money one and once those loads are gone, then you are stuck.

The other part of the problem is the management and legal issues that are involved, you just don't "invest" into something and let others manage it for you, that opens you up to a lot of really bad liabilities like you are on the hook for any money he can borrow against your trucks - seen it happen before.

SO the best thing is this, if you want to do this, then do it yourself, don't bring partners in, don't hand off management to someone like a broker who has an interest somewhere else and learn how it all really works in your area with the players who you may already know.

    Lepton1 and RollingRecaps Thank this.

Better off to invest in a few condos and rent them out.

Good luck keeping a used $40k tri axle running hard around the clock..

Working direct is the only way to go with a tri axle.

If the broker has 6 trucks he simply needs to buy 2-3 more. Problem solved. Heed the advice you have been given. A fool and his money are soon parted comes to mind. You would have a better chance at surviving a walk through a mine field wearing concrete boots.

The problem is that you're putting all your eggs in one basket - what happens when you're not making the money you thought you could from this broker? Do you have another customer lined up? I don't think you can just get on the load board with these kinds of equipment.
