Varies. They say Millis OTR driver "average" miles per year is 115,000 which comes out to a little over 2,200 miles weekly.

Variables are how long you stay out, manage your hours, frequency of drop and hooks to live loads / unloads etc... I take a lot of hometime and did a bit under 102,000 miles last year.

On average each full week (7 day pay period) I get between 2,500 to 3,100 miles. On short week that I go home it is approx 1,400 on lower end to 1,900 miles on high end. I am usually out 9-10 days and home 3 days, leaving out on Tuesday and returning home the following Friday.

In general if you stay out longer you can average higher mileage because they don't have to worry about where you are geographically in relationship to your home and getting you there.

All these numbers are averages and obviously some weeks you'll do better and others you'll do worse.

I thought the recruiter was a little deluded when she told me 2700 - 3200, but I figured an average of 2200 a week with home time etc., to make the 115k a year.

Yeah I would not say you can average that week in and week out unless you never go home, never run low on hours and nothing ever goes wrong.

Glad to help. This forum and many on it helped me figure things out when I was deciding where to go and starting more than anything else.

Thank you for the informative & detailed reply!! I start school 2 weeks from tomorrow & have wondered a little about this, your explanation helps me picture how a schedule similar to what i was thinking could work out! I'll be running out of Atlanta/Cartersville & looking forward to joining the team @ Millis!

    JOHNQPUBLIC and SHOJim Thank this.
