So I've been looking at the possibility of having 2 trailers. I was looking at getting a reefer due to all my experience having been with reefers. The other one being a grain trailer or something along those lines. So I could haul grain during the harvest season and yank a reefer in the off season. I was wondering if y'all might be able to give me advice if I might be better off just sticking to a reefer only or if it's worth the investment to have a second trailer. Either way I'm getting a reefer.

I've got several different trailers. Rgn, flat, step, end dump. I say be diversified. BUT KEEP IN MIND. if you've got a good gig and take off to work the harvest, no one's going to hold your spot just because you're a good ol' boy. Someone else will be dragging your freight. This is a 'what have you done for me lately' industry.

It was one of those middle the night laying in the sleeper thoughts when trying to get some shut eye. Since there are times when I just wanna do a redneck unload at some of these grocery warehouses..

I have several different trailers. If one area is slow gives you a option. I can't imagine going back to 1 trailer. Actually thinking about adding another.

I think the only hard part is that with a grain trailer I would probably have to run to Cali/TX for harvest time since I live in Southern AZ... otherwise it would be a large amount of Deadhead to get to the proper lane.

I say go for it. The more options the better. I work with brokers all the time so I'm not worried about losing any work. Park that reefer during harvest and make money with the hopper. I have a dry van and a reefer. Switching back and forth to whatever is paying best at the moment. I will never go back to just being tied down to one trailer type. I want even more options than what I have now like some of these other drivers on here.

As long as the numbers crunch, it sounds like a great way to combat burn out. Gets old doing S.S.D.D. Some variety in the routine would be nice.
