So Ive worked with Werner off and on for about 5 out of the last 6 years, and there is one thing that absolutely ruins this company.

The load planners constantly and intentionally schedule solo drivers for times when they are supposed to be sleeping. If you sleep a certain time during the day, they will schedule EVERY load during your normal hours of sleep. EVERY. SINGLE. LOAD.

Every single load Ive gotten in the last month has been scheduled at night. ALL OF THEM. Despite that I am on the 5am to 5pm shift. So every single load gets late because of this.

Well, I figured that because they kept trying to give me night appointments, they must need night drivers, so I just ended up switching back to nights.

AND WHAT HAPPENS? THEY START GIVING ME PICKUPS DURING THE DAY INSTEAD. When Im supposed to be sleeping.

So they are giving the day guys the night loads, and giving the day loads to the night drivers.

Is it really that difficult for them to just let people sleep? Its absolutely blood boiling. It really makes me wonder how many of these people have serious mental problems. It really seriously does.

This has been a huge problem the entire time I worked for Werner. Their load planners are just absolutely sadistic to the solo drivers. Theyre the most petty and poorly behaved managers Ive ever worked with in my entire life.

I actually left twice for about 6 months at a time. The two other companies ended up going down the drain due to safety and customer service issues. One is barely still alive, and the other was shut down by its parent company.

When I came back, I had to team because being solo was absolutely terrible. They have absolutely no idea how to plan solo drivers at all.

The solo load planners are absolutely completely incompetent. It makes life a living hell.

Ive seen this at some deliveries.Ill show up,Wheres everyone at?Wheres Werner,Gordan,Swift.Anyway after chatting with the manager, theyll say "No one has the "hours" to make their appointment time. Most of these drivers are still on their 10 off!.So,why schedule them if you know they cant make it? Doesnt Effect me,I get the 7am load delivered at 6am,because there is Nobody there.

Thats actually very true. I never thought about that until now.

When I was sticking to the 5am shift, I would show up at 6 or 7 am and the other morning appointments would never be there. Because they scheduled a 1500 pickup and the driver had to shut down around midnight.

If a pickup is going to be late, send the night guys. They can run overnight and still deliver on time. If a day pickup is late, it forces the day guy to run into the middle of the night and take a 10 hour in the middle.

Right now both the day and night drivers are unhappy. Why ruin everything when the night guys are already willing to take the night runs?

So Im supposed to be on nights, and my last two loads have been for 0700 and 0800. And now I have no load for this shift.

I complained about it on the last load, and suddenly they have no loads. Funny how that works. Im really ready to make an FMCSA complaint because we litterally have drivers crashing their trucks due to sleep deprivation. Im not going to drive around sleep deprived because some punk in Omaha wants to toy with drivers.

Any time a driver complains, the low level managers respond by doing the exact opposite of what the driver asks. Even if it creates a safety problem. If the driver asks something, it absolutely will not be done.

Working for this company for 5 years has made me immediately distrust anybody who comes from Nebraska or Iowa. It really has.

In 5 years I cant think of a single time the dispatchers or load planners have actually behaved like decent human beings. Where does Werner get so many people who lack even basic leadership skills or morals?

Sure, they show up to work and behave real polite, but when they make decisions, its like something a savage would do. Complete lack of regard for other human beings. I dont care how polite they are to each other. When they intentionally make decisions to inflict suffering on drivers, that makes them terrible human beings.

As I already stated, I was a team driver specifically to get away from this kind of behavior by the solo dispatchers.

I stopped teaming after several years because my co-drivers kid was in the hospital and weekend dispatch used it as a way to punish him for complaining about their behavior. It took us like 4 days to get the last 700 miles home, because not only did they screw up our entire weekend, they screwed up the next day, which took a 4th day to fix.

When I say I suspect some of them have mental issues, Im not saying that lightly. No decent human being would do something like that to somebody while their kid was in the hospital.

this is along the topic of sleep and werner but as a student. i was with a trainer who insisted he was going to run me at night. i informed him that i do not sleep well during the day and then couple that with sleeping in a moving truck, i knew it was a dangerous recipe. he went ahead and proceeded to have me drive overnight regardless. i almost fell asleep the first night i drove completely overnight. i told the trainer i dont sleep well during those hours and i refuse to continue to run ragged like that. he tried to get me kicked off the truck. i ended up calling the FM and he forced the trainer to change my hours so i ran during the day. i did much better and felt allot safer. the fact remains the trainer tried to run me those hours anyways. im a student dealing with everything new and he seems like he just didnt care as long as HE wasnt driving overnights.
