I know they have fuel solutions, but do they have forced routing?

What do you mean force routing?
They cannot make you run roads not suitable for class 8 trucks.

No, do they tell you what routes to take to a customer, or is it up to the driver?

Get you a good truckers atlas.
    Your in control.
My info I gave came from a government data base.

Smart phone with google maps for highway road conditions. Construction/ accidents

They have fuel solutions and suggested routes, neither of which I pay any attention to.

At least when I was there they really only care bout the fuel solutions being followed. Not that you will get in trouble if you don't follow them but they have been known to send messages asking why you are zero % compliant for the month (yes speaking from experience lol) The routing they give you is ignorant as hell and nobody says a word if you don't follow it.

I've only had one message about the fuel routing, for the very same thing. I've never heard anything about the suggested routes and I imagine it's just part of the same software package the fuel routing came with.

Ya I'd always just look at the route they suggested to get a daily laugh. Oh you want me to run back roads to get to NY from Wisc so you can save toll $ you've already charged the customer, but will take me at least 2 hours longer? No thanks I'll hop on the toll road and get there asap and save my hours to make myself more $ lol. Company I'm with now only let's us run the toll road going east. On our backhaul headed back west (iowa) we have to take back roads. Sucks but when your home every weekend with 10-15 hours left on your 70 it's not as big a deal compared to running your 70 put every week
