Trying to Decide - Crete Dry Van #1?

I will be attending CDL School shortly and hopefully starting with Crete soon after.

In speaking with the Crete recruiter, I was told avg 2900 miles per week. Given they do a lot of drop and hook, this seems reasonably achievable. Would you Crete drivers agree with about 2900 a week for those who work hard and smart? After a couple of years $65-70k should pretty much be normal if you are averaging around those miles. This is in line with their well-advertised claim that top drivers average $69k.

I am looking at Crete over Prime to avoid the normal refer headaches, get a full size truck for the same cpm, and spend more time driving and less time sitting at warehouses.

 

Thanks Chinatown. I gave Danny Herman a call. They sound promising. I also read through coueshunters thread. Aside from the bickering, seems like a good place to work. To share the information I got with them on the phone: 2800-3000 miles per week. 1500 watt inverters 90% have Apus, 65mph on the pedal 67mph on cruise, 55% D&H, 1400 miles avg length of haul, and dispatchers and fleet managers get a bonus when you do. Zip code to zip code miles, no tuition reimbursement, $300 pay for the 3 day orientation (hotel provided but not meals).

It is promising, but they couldn't promise me that they hire me based on where I will be living (Cullman Alabama) even though they run there. They said to check back in June before I head to CDL training.

I asked them if $45-50k the first year was a reasonable expectation, they said yes. They also said after I get in the groove of things and get a raise or two, $60-70k+ should be no problem if I am a hard worker. That is where I want to be, so sounds good to me! I do like their running lanes and the small company atmosphere. Still not certain that they would be better than Crete, but I guess I can't really tell that unless I drove for both for a year
