Thats what I need help with. My local college is currently full for the March class but some students may drop out. If no one drops out then I can do the june class if the grant comes through. If the grant doesn't then I have no way to pay

A community college will teach you how to drive a truck, TA company (prime, Werner car England and such) will teach you to be a truck driver.

You will not benefit from the experiences of actually hauling loads in many different environments in a community college and a community college may help you with job placement but it doesn't guarantee you a job after you're done.

Prime for example will hire after you successfully pass your CDL tests.

Hey y'all! I'm heading up there the first week of March for orientation and I'm excited, but I'm a bit nervous about the physical. I'm significantly overweight and if the neck girth and high BMI are the only factors they consider to tag you for a sleep study then I will be certainty tagged. My question is, who is covering the cost of this? I am finding conflicting information in this thread, some say Prime will take it out of your checks later while another says it was a bill they had to foot upfront. Anyone got some confirmation on this?

As far as the other stuff about the physical, anyone got anymore details about what that entails? Is there more to the agility test than the duck walk? How do test for diabetes, just a quick check to see if there is sugar in your urine? I am in good health, but am curious about what the specifics are as it seems quite a few ppl do not pass their physical and I would like to be as prepared as possible for whatever may come up

Im struggling to wrap my head around something... I am looking to get a CDL. I know that the state of IL will not accept CDLs from another state and will require me to redo all the testing... including the pre trip skills and driving.

Will prime allow me to test in my home state of do i have to get my CDL in MO and then redo everything in my home state?

Im a little confused on this topic... It may have already been answered im trying to read back from a few months ago to see if it was recently answered.

Either way thanks guys... and gals!

Yep. You can thank your grand state for being so, so cooperative & for playing so nice! LOL

You will obtain your license in MO, then they will get you back to IL sometime during TNT phase to do it all over again. Just think of how good you're going to be at testing when you're all done!

Gotta love that IL, eh? :biggrin_25523:

Sounds like a real hoot! HAHA! As long as i get my CDL in IL and can use a Prime truck im all game!

Seriously I have heard nothing but great stories about Prime for people that work and study hard.

Question: Is there anyway to request a certain trainer. There are a few trainers that post video and others that are on this site that just seem like i would get along with great and learn a great deal from.

Also, What are the requirements to become a trainer? I think that would greatly interest me in the long run!

If you actually know somebody, like friend or relative.....you both should be able to work it out. To just request just a particular person you have "seen online", I would say not possible.

Last I knew to be TNT trainer, you had to have 90 days on your own, with no incidents & good record, good stats/fuel milage/on time....etc. I highly believe this is way to soon for a greenhorn to be taking on this type of responsibility.

For a PSD instructor, year in with same.

Both have to go through a certification class in SprigMo, PSD instructor day or two longer than TNT trainer.

Personally, think that 90 days not enough real life experience.
