Back in the day there was no such thing as a neutered truck, my first truck was a 1980 w900 18sp with a big power Detroit, 80 mph was just a stroll it had some long legs I hit 100 a few times! The one I have now will do 25 in neutral with the breaks on. Now that im old I come to realize it is was nicer to spend my extra money on pizza and beer and not speeding tickets and bail.

Tell me about it. In my first year with CDL. I collected 5 speeding tickets. I was playing tricks with deferments and supervisions, spend some $ on lawyers and finally changed the state of residence, which did not care about out-of-state tickets. Wisconsin that was. It was a miracle that my CDL was never suspended. Lately, I've been a good boy, the last speeding ticket I received was in 2007, again I paid money to a lawyer and they changed it to an undercharged fire extinguisher violation. That was just a grotesque how the courts worked. Slowing down has to do with biology, it comes with age. Just like with anything else in life, I am so much slower, if you know what I mean.

If I put mine in top gear, at 1600 RPM I would be turning 103 mph. No governor on the engine except the OEM one to not exceed 2100 RPM. Doesn't really matter. I have no desire to go that fast, even in my car.
Oh... the truck has never been in top gear in 658,000 miles on the truck.prerunner404 Thanks this. -
Years ago, I went 120mph on flat ground in a '83 FL. I wasn't driving.
The reason I know it was 120 is that's what the state trooper said. Speedo only went to 85 (I think) but it was rapped around almost back to zero. Best I remember, the ticket wasn't all that much, but you have to realize things were different back then (1980s). I'm sure it would be a free ride to jail nowadays.
My Granddad had broke down in MO in a old c60 Chevy and I was ridding with my uncle to go pick him up. I was just a kid. My uncle was a old school trucker and had a lead foot and a truck that would flat out fly. -

Every truck I know of has a Georgia overdrive. If the hill is steep enough, it will go as fast as you can hold it in the road.
