Even when it isn't an obvious "avoid the toll road" route, it's often still a dumb way to go. I remember getting a route from Dalton, GA to Plano, IL that was I-75 to I-24, then I-65 to I-74. This would take me through Louisville and Indianapolis, where if I just stayed on I-24 to I-57 and then go up to I-74 the only major city I'd have to go through was Nashville (which I would have to go through anyways). I have an atlas, a GPS, and knowledge of most the routes we travel so I'm going to whatever way uses the least of my hours.
Is millis transfer still a good company too work for

For this really new guy, could you explain "fuel solutions" to me?

DRAGON64 Thanks this.

...And of course it is left up to drivers discretion (?) Thank you for the clarification. I had noticed this terminology used quite a bit.

How much, if any, latitude a driver has as to where to get fuel will vary from company to company. There was one company I remember that as recently as a few years ago didn't really care where you fueled as long as you took the time to trip plan well and find fuel at a good price (Jim Palmer maybe? I can't remember the name). Other places can say you WILL get fuel at such and such location. You WILL get X amount of gallons. Part of that will also have to do with IFTA at certain carriers, if not all.
At the least you're usually locked into getting fuel at certain names (Love's, TA/Petro and so forth) depending on how much of a price break companies can negotiate based on the volume they can fuel.
That's not to say if there is a glitch and you have to have fuel right now and the only place around is Joe Blow's truck stop you can't fuel there but you will probably be calling into the fuel solution people where you work to get permission and find out how much you can get.DRAGON64 Thanks this. -
Ya and millis does give a monthly bonus to drivers who are at least 80% compliant in the fuel solutions. I believe it's 10 cents for every compliant gallon fueled, which if you follow it 100% it equals about a $125 bonus each month give or take a little.
