That's awesome man. I feel the same way about my wife. Sounds like you'll be fine. Just keep that connection. If you feel it slip away and you know it's the job, easy decision. For me at least. Love this new family of mine, but my wife comes before everything. I think that's why she's so cool with this change. She knows where my priorities lie.

Adding 2 hours from Wisconsin to New York at the very least. Staying off the toll rd from state line west of Buffalo to Syracuse alone would add 2 hours if not more.

Ya I was being generous lol. Crazy thing is I talked to more than 1 millis driver when I was there that said he followed the route suggestion and fuel solution 100%. And usually right after telling me that they'd ask me how many miles I've been running. I'd reply with 3200-3500 on weeks I stay out, and sometimes even more, but I don't follow that route suggestion at all. They'd get all pissed, and couldn't figure out why I was getting that many miles compared to them....well if every trip you take is takin 2+hours longer than its taking me it shouldn't be that hard to figure out. Wasting hours on your 70 will kill your check plain and simple

Yeah I don't follow the route suggestion. I go whichever way is quickest and easiest within reason. I tried a couple route suggestions before trying to stay off a few different toll roads to see what it was like. It sucked! And half the tolls they saved was probably burned up in extra fuel from all the stopping and starting vs steady interstate cruising. Besides, if it takes longer, that means the truck motor is running longer -isn't it burning more fuel? Would seem logical to me.

I do follow the fuel solutions though as most of the time I find them pretty easy and they are giving me a little extra coin to do it.

When I 1st started the fuel solutions were terrible. I had 1 out in VA heading to Toano they wanted me to get 50gal at that pilot outside of Toano, then get loaded and head right back to that same pilot and fill up lol. As time went on they got better and they eliminated some of the terrible stops and I was following it and getting the bonus when I left. But that route suggestion noway

It seems like a number of the places they suggest are just the cheapest, but like that Pilot you are talking about, or the Love's at exit 1 in Virginia on I-77 at the bottom of Fancy Gap are so busy that you'll waste thirty minutes just trying to GET to the fuel islands. If it's a place I'd stop anyways, then I'll stop. Otherwise I'll go ahead and fuel at location that's more reasonable.

I know this is going to be a stupid question, but if you're taking a different route then what is suggested don't you need to go pretty far out of the way to use the suggested fuel stops since they would be along the suggested route?

You request a new fuel solution along the route you will be traveling.

Hey guys, just finished day 2 at the Millis school in Cartersville and I couldn't be happier so far!
We were so impressed that we had a video conference call today with Dave, Steve & Dan Millis, as well as Jay the Fleet Mgr and several others! It is great to hear from the President of the company on down that Safety & Communication are the two most important things.
As far as the Trip Planning & Fuel that was being discussed in this thread Steve covered that today in class.
He said the route suggestions do not have to be followed and that when we put in the route we are going to take we will get new Fuel solutions for that route, and he confirmed we don't HAVE to do either, but the Fuel bonus for fuel solutions can be a nice monthly bonus.
Steve is a great Instructor and I'm really excited about getting in the truck tomorrow!! :)
