LOL I got mine done last night and they got me wired up in less than 15 minutes, they turned the lights off at around 9 and the ####### landscapers woke me up around 11:30 with a freacking chainsaw and a blower right next to my window, at 12 they put the mask on and couldn't fall asleep until 1:30 between the assistant heating his dinner, the smell of his food was awful btw and him talking over the phone.
Who the heck cut and blows grass at night anyways? jeez

They just called and rescheduled it for Monday night. I'm really going to try and sleep. I hope that I can.

Take the sleeping pill maybe the NyQuil but it hard to sleep in room with all the wires and stuff. The nice thing about going to a sleep lab is they can see when your sleeping and I don't think they need like 6 or 8 hours of data. Once you've sleeping they can see if you breathing or not. Even if only sleep 1 hour that might be enough. Remember they count Events Per Hour and an Event has to be 10 seconds or longer.

They want people to sleep on back because that when sleep apnea is the worse. People that have sleep apnea start sleeping on their side because they sleep better. It like a warning sign someone could have sleep apnea and they don't even know.

They can probably measure your events per hour even less like 20 minute at a time and 3 separate time to get 60 minutes. Once you sleeping if someone has sleep apnea they will stop breathing very quickly. They measure and watch every single breath inhale and exhale.

90 is way up their at 10 seconds each thats 900 seconds per hour of not breathing or 15 minutes. CPAP makes a big difference at that much of not breathing.

No kidding. I actually look forward to strapping it on at night. Took a little while for it to become natural, but I love it now.
Without it, all my organs are working overtime. Not good.

It's a ##### to try to sleep with all that gear attached. Normally I sleep on my face. Well, my forehead. I literally bunch a pillow up enough that I can put my forehead on the edge and my face isn't shmooshed into the mattress so I can breath. Changing that has been an adjustment. I'm going in Monday for a new mask fitting because I've been trying to at least sleep on my side instead of my back, and I keep getting leaks in the mask. It's a bit small.

As for it being a scam? I disagree. I'm a believer. I've been using mine for 13 days now and I see a difference. I never realized how much sleep I was missing out on. I have more energy during the day to take care of things. Play with my daughter more. We go for walks at the park (she rides her little bike) and I feel good for moving instead of beat like before. I used to have to drag my ### to the gym, force it on myself. Now I'm ready to roll and when I get home and shower I'm still good to pick up my kid and head out to find something to do instead of sitting in front of the tv all night.

I would not recommend over medicating yourself. Specially during the test phase. As I said, I've been using my machine for 13 days now, and my apneas have dropped from 24/hr to under 1. Except on the couple nights I had been drinking. They shot back up over 7 each night. Seeing that jump WITH the machine, I'd hate to take a test and overinflate the problem.

I recommend this. The night before, don't sleep. At least not much. Grab a few hours, but plan ahead and give yourself plenty to do the day of the test, and plan some things you can do the NIGHT before to keep you awake. Grab a few hours the night before, like 2 or 3, but nothing more. Take their xanax but don't overdue it on the meds. It could change the outcome in a bad way. Say you are in the light to non-issue area normally, like 0-10 per hour. Overmedication could easily throw you into the higher bracket. You could end up with a diagnosis simply BECAUSE you over medicated. I wouldn't take that risk. And if you actually do have an issue, don't you want treatment? Sure, going in I was skeptical because I didn't know there was a problem, but now that I'm getting the treatment I see how much it was needed and I'm glad for it. No matter how much it's ####ed up my life right now, going forward it's a great thing.

Take my advice for what you will. I'm not talking out my ###. I'm living it right now.
