Husband Starting at USA Truck on Monday 10/31/2016

Recovering a truck is a paid thing, they will hand you a comcheck and say that's for recovery, go get it. I recovered many with FFE in my time, they handed me some keys where the truck is and a comcheck to pocket the funds and go get it back to the yard. It was fun because those trucks the satellite ternimal contains a story book in the form of pages of messages sent by the previous unhappy driver who was fired, quit or what have you. The responses by managment is pretty revealing as to how they work under stress. Some are pretty simple with bad words others try to reason. Those are the ones you want as a boss.

I caution you to pretrip those recoveries very very very carefully. Your life may depend on it or someone else. Fingerprint the thing front to back and look under everything. Think about it potentially from a stabatouer's point of view if there is anything a unhappy, disgrungled driver can do that will cause it damage which will break under a load and really hurt or kill a bunch of people they might do it. Don't just hop into a recovery. Never do that. Go over it carefully. The engine oil plug might be loosely threaded on to ... a slit inside the coolant line near the turbo where most of the time you wont see it until she does overheat as the fluid goes bye bye. Or perhaps a bolt is loosened on the front end steering matrix. Pop and off the road you go. Things like that. If it has a trailer, do the 5th wheel first. make sure the jaws are in, get under there and look. (After checking the handle itself to be sure it's in) Angry people are not really deep thinking in heat of emotion but the really dangerous ones are those who wants to really see that truck in tomorrows news with 100 dead or something.

Im not here to cause you trouble but I can share a few things that no one has talked about now and then. Give you something to consider.

I was with USA for 14 months. I enjoyed the company and the people, including the office people. My dispatcher was Bradley Hayes. AWESOME guy. Genuinely cares about his people and seemed to be a straight shooter. The reason I left was because they didnt send me home on time. Every load kept getting me further and further from my home. We talked civilly and I felt it was best for me to leave. I drove the load to the USA terminal near Atlanta and they paid for my rental car home. I enjoyed my time with them and miss the people. But Im home every night now.
