I believe that's the east bound rest area. And it don't hold many trucks. Westbound is somewhere close by and it holds less trucks.

I've seen a couple of trucks parked up in the trees on the east bound side. But I've never used it to know what the area is like.

I think it's exit 158 where there's a burger king and chevron east bound. a few trucks can park across the street. And some will park at exit 129 or 8 or going westbound.

What's the exit for the rest area then? I know it's there somewhere.

Found it. Exit 144. 145 would be where i see a couple of trucks in the trees. Looks like decent parking for a few trucks.

    Here is the guidance...
Question 25: When a driver experiences a delay on an impassable highway, should the time he/she is delayed be entered on the record of duty status as driving time or on-duty (not driving)?

Guidance: Delays on impassable highways must be recorded as driving time because §395.2 defines “driving time” as all time spent at the driving controls of a Commercial Motor Vehicle CMV in operation.

Of course I don't agree. If the freeway is shutdown, the engine of the truck off, brakes set and I'm in the sb or even out of the truck bs'ing with other drivers I can't see how that is drive time.
But I'm just a dumb driver, so what do I know?

I go off-duty like most other drivers. How can they know if you were parked in the middle of the highway or off the road somewhere?

Exactly. I would and have kept driving. Screw those E-logs.
You get to a safe place with facilities to take your 10 hour break, not on the side of the road.
