Yeah, no plans of jumping ship. I knew van rates weren't the greatest here. I spent a lot of time narrowing down the companies I wanted to work for. I like Mercer. Truly a stand up company with stand up people.
I have no problem saying no, done that few times. But I took December, January and half of February off so, its been tough trying to sit still..... this dog just wants to run LOL.
Thanks for the tips of the triangle, I knew this but haven't been haven't been seeking it out per say.

Don't be afraid to call and talk to agents. It's why Mercer gives you all their numbers and locations. Call and talk to them, most are super friendly (not all) and will tell you where their best lans and stuff are. Even their best days for certain areas. TAKE NOTES! This way as you get a little more experience you can help build the lanes that work best for you. If you just want to work a certain spot (let's say Tulsa although rates are not great there) talk to the agent and let them know that is what you are looking to do. They may have a customer or two that can keep you busy. Your coordinator isn't going to do this for you. Learn that he is a tool to use and help you. But he will only do so much. It's up to you to find the milk runs.

I strongly suggest you build a relationship with agents. They are your customer. I call them all the time just to get a feel for current freight markets

Well day 1 is in the books and the inspection bay found 1 air leak. They give you a whole page of shops in the area. There are 4 that are on site that can come out to the yard and DO NOT charge you a service call. The hourly rate is almost half of most shop rates you would go to on the road. I know this has been a big topic of discussion at times and I wanted to share my experience.

So it's not a scam after all huh? Welcome aboard. Glad to see you got through inspection with only a minor issue.

I figured quality was involved / but as a Business person I would hate to put 6 months of payments and $600 escrow into a trailer I am not going to keep. Guess you got to do what you got to do

Do you know if guys who have extra flat bed Trucks leased on have to find employee with 6 months flat experience

I do think so. I know the new rule is new Hires need to have 6 months Flatbed EXP Or they can start at VAN and PROVE themselves(MONTHS) And asked to be moved to flatbed and get the right training. I Will say this its a good move.. The training they show you doesn't help all that much xD
