Dude, chill out. I came here, posted, then once I saw what the problem was on my own knew what needed to be done. I apologize for actually being smart enough to figure out what the problem was. Truth be told, I called CS before you replied. They were faster is reason I didn't download a potentially dangerous file then give you my email address. Not that I don't trust you, I don't trust anyone that is not involved with a company (you actually being an employee? First I've heard of it, thought you were just some guy). But you were wrong. Flat out. I didn't need to do all of those unnecessary steps. I guess a level 1 tech knew enough to NOT have me do unnecessary things. You should probably review your procedures. And you are right, in the future I will call RM direct, they are faster and a lot less rude.

First off I am not a Dude. Be respectful and you will get treated the same. I have a name and it is in my Avatar.

Well for the past 9 years I have given my E-Mail out to hundreds of users to send files or procedures. I have remoted into hundreds of users computers to fix issues either with their computer or the TND's.

My computer is my computer. It is as secure as I can get it as I don't like any potentially dangerous files either.

All you had to do was ask if I was employed by RM. I can tell you the CS rep would not have known, but if you ask the supervisor he knows me personally as all the major department heads.

I guess the part 2 in the title did not give you a hint that this thread has been here a long time.

The level 1 tech does not do what I do nor do they go outside of their set troubleshooting parameters. I go outside the box to resolve the issues.

You set the stage by telling me you could care less about my experience and could care less what I had to say along with my "crazy" procedures...

no need to reply,, I already answered your "conversation."

So why not do the MD5 to verify that the map files are indeed "fixed?"

    Thanks,
    Mark

Put that file on the RM website and I will. This is a message forum. I understand your experience and background, I do. I just don't download files from message boards. All legit files should be available on their website.

He works for rand mcnally. And he spends countless amounts of time here providing support, free of charge for rand mcnally products.

You think that you are being smart, and apparently you think you are intelligent when it comes to technology. Which is all fine and dandy. But your posts and comments here are just making you sound like an idiot.

It's fine if you don't want to believe him. Honestly if you were that concerned about him working for rand mcnally, and sending you files to help you. You could have just reviewed the 355 pages of this thread, and seen he's been on almost every single page posting. Or you could have found the old thread, that got closed because it became too long. And found he is on almost every single page of that thread. You could also check the dates of the posts and found he has been doing this for years providing support.

My suggestion? Be a little more humble when it comes to technology, because I can assure you. From a technological standpoint, and a common sense standpoint. You have a lot to learn.

On a lighter note. I came here to check out what the hell was going on with the map update for the 730.

Rand mcnally is really dropping the ball with the whole map update situation :|

Soon... It just got released to me from QA so I can build the Updater cards for MATS and prepping the 450 units in Richmond for the show next week. Soooo,,, it should be released before March 23rd...

I have the MD5 already of the maps so if you are in question I can send you the procedures.

The Tablets already have this update, so it is for the TND's only.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Well, the MD5 doesn't do me any good, I don't have the files lol. But if you want to send me the link to download them, I'm down to install the map update according to your instructions and give it a whirl next week when I head out on monday :)
