As a company driver, i haven't had a three way call for a load in awhile either.

Loading freight because of service failures can be drivers but also is bad information in the assignments (i.e. bad appointments, pick up numbers, addresses, routing). Poor information makes it difficult to properly plan eta to delivery when appointment is wrong, you arrive late so they work you in and loading takes longer than was marked on the assignment.

well, driving aimlessly around the countryside hunting mty's when there's an available on 2 blocks away doesn't help. 2 weeks ago I was in Sealy TX at Walmart. The box folks sent in another driver bobtail to pull out the last mty.........then tells me I have to drive to Mineral Wells (south of Houston) to get one (because Walmart isn't releasing mtys........uh, what?). Anyway, after about 3 hours of deliberation, I did it. It cost me a total of 3 hours of drive / on duty time. Then the next week I'm at a customer just off of 78 in Memphis (maybe a mile from Pilot) and I need an mty. Rather than send me to one of the many customers we have there or the yard on Shelby Dr. (aka 175) they send me all the way over to West Memphis where, wait for it......there's no mty's and I have to wait till the next morning to get one, (and burning another hour and a half in the process). And since, by this time, I'm rolling on recap hours, everything is late. The next 3 assignments pick up and deliver late.......all because the "Box Planners" would rather run me as far as they can without paying me.

It's ridiculous, people. You can always tell when a company is chasing a 'metric' because they start doing stupid things. I don't know about IPO's and whatnot; however, after 20 plus years in the industry, I do know a bit about trucking. One one of the most important resources a trucking company has are it's drivers and their hours......because a driver without hours is like a truck without gas, completely worthless. It's funny, sometimes it seems like we're not even valued as a resource, let alone a human being.........sad, sad, sad

Right when you send in an exception for an empty just might as well get started driving in the opposite direction of your next load to SAVE SOME TIME because that's where the box planners will end up sending you

I think that box planner is an oxymoron. They don't plan anything except screwing up a drivers day.

It's the same thing. An IPO (initial public offering) is selling the company to the public. Strong financials will command a higher price per share. Of which the owners will retain a large portion.

I would gently be a PIA. With respect of course. Stay on him and he will look forward to getting you done.
