It was a low of 62 in MO and I get to MN with a low of -1 only 24 hrs later. I got the rest of my winter stuff while on time off. Some insulated bibs and boots. Won't have to freeze to death just to air up tires and do pretrips. I'm ready for winter to be over. And I busted it at Pilot this morning too, feet in the air and flat on my back.

Ouch! Been there, done that!

All good. I was wearing my insulated bibs and they cushioned the fall pretty good.

Good thing! Guess they paid for themselves pretty quick.

This is my first crap load I have had with these guys. The shipper kept messing the weight up and I had to get reworked twice. I noticed the bills were inconsistent and the girl in shipping couldn't figure out what I was talking about. There were two stops today next door to each other with two POs. The bills had 4 POs. Dispatch copied me in all the emails and wow, what a joke. No one could tell why the bills had 4 POs or when my appointment really was. I show up at 0445 and confirmed it to be for 0500. I finally left there at 1345. I have been here before with a reefer load and it wasn't this bad. I had dry stuff in the reefer this time and it was hell.

On my way back to Colorado. They have been sending me out there a lot lately. Been working on a few things lately and possibly acting on those by August or September. These guys do a good job and all but there are better options out there to advance my career as an O/O. I am looking at 2 options; either I'm going to go out with my own authority pulling reefer or I'm going to try and get on with one of the agent dispatch companies pulling flatbed. I am leaning strongly towards flatbed. After running the numbers I honestly think it would be more profitable being leased to someone like Landstar or Mercer than to run my own numbers. As much as I would love to run on my own, and rates have been improving, I still can't see being fully independent, as a one truck operation, being more profitable than running flats in an agent dispatch system. If I had plans to grow and run multiple trucks I would pursue my own authority but that is not something I would ever think of doing. I don't know how these small fleet owners sleep at night, honestly.
