This is trucking there is no loyalty it's a dog eat dog industry. If he feels bad then give them the money for the drug test and physical and move on.Trust me these companies don't care about the drivers so why care about them.

It's not about showing he cares about the company. It's about showing who he is as a man. If he has signed a contract of acceptance. He as a man is obligated to fulfil that contract even if it is for 6-12 months. Then part on good terms. If he goes the other way. He is starting himself off on the notion that the grass is always greener on the other paddock.

My company I just left I did this for. The last 2 weeks I would have saved more money had I just jumped ship immediately.

It's not always about money. Those that only focus on money and material things are never truly happy with their lives. If you are always chasing the almighty dollar you are doing yourself a disservice.

Is the word integrity even in the dictionary anymore? He should tell the new prospective employer his situation. He would like to go to work for them but he feels obligated to continue where he is at for the time being. He would love to be considered for the job in the future. Both parties should respect him for it and he can walk with his head held high.

Actually what he said is, "if you wanna get satisfied the YOU have to pay.":p:D

I'd be gone from that outfit in a flash. What a jerk.

Yes, it's a different thread, but it's also a different situation. If you have spent appreciable time with a company, where you both depend on each other, two weeks notice in writing is absolutely applicable.
But if I read the OP's post right, the young man hasn't even actually started work yet. I don't see anything in the OP's post that would indicate any type of "contract" either verbal or in writing.

I don't see anything in the OP's post that would indicate any type of "contract" either verbal or in writing. Yeah, I'm repeating myself here.

Either that, or they are laughing their butts off at him. But he still can walk with his head held hight.o_O

I dunno, there was a time when I would have said, (and in fact backed it up with action,) that once I had agreed to take a job, I would at least take it and give it six months minimum. And I did do that. But that was a different field of labor, one in which employer and employee pretty much respected each other, and themselves.

I'm really not sure how I feel about it in this case. For one thing, there is much speculation, with little fact shown, about the situation.

@Big Don perhaps you didn't read where I wrote if he has signed the contract he needs to stick to it. If he hasn't that's a different story. If he stated he would take the job even he should take it.

Because a man's word is one of the very few things in life he can rely on

@LoudOne, yes I did read your post. But I believe I also read at least one other post on here, that appeared to be assuming he had a contract.

    Blackshack46 Thanks this.

That probably went to the same place that the attitude of going out with 6 stops and taking all day to deliver only 3 of them came from.
