So after doing some reading hazmat is required here right? Or has that changed?

Hazmat and tanker. On occasion we haul big totes of stuff that requires a tanker endorsement and we occasionally haul hazmat.

I don't plan on getting my hazmat, but I do have tanker.

In the end it may cost you $0.01 per mile not to have hazmat, we don't do a lot, but it takes away flexibility when drivers don't have it and they have a run where they need them to. Check with Tony for the official stance.

I would only do it if they paid for me to get it. Still working on a list of companies to work for and this company is on my list until a recruiter gives a better light on the subject.

Was around 85-90 in Tolleson today. Way too early for that kind of heat.

When I got here, I was told if I didn't get my hazmat endorsement I wouldn't be promoted to performance pay, but I would stay at .36 per mile. Prior to coming here, I thought you'd just be penalized a few cents, but that's not what the safety guy told us during orientation. Maybe that was just scare tactics, or maybe he was misinformed, but that's what he said.

Prior to coming to orientation I had passed the hazmat test to have it put back on my license, but was waiting for the background check. FL had some sort of computer problem and it took almost 3 months (usually done within 1 month).

In my 17 months here, I have had 1 load that needed the tanker and 1 load that needed hazmat. Before I got home to pick up my hazmat endorsed license last year, I had to pass on a hazmat load. So we don't use it often, but we do use it. Not having it sometimes screws you out of miles, but it also screws the operations people because they might have a load they need you to pick up, but have to route another driver in to haul it and route you out somewhere else.
