i have them installed in my trucks i have never even bothered to look depends on the contractor but the problem is that some guys will say they are not watching you and that's a #### lie so it really depends on the person just to be safe if that's not something you feel comfortable with its better you move on and part ways as friends

Hi!
So I'm curious that you're saying that it's the Lyxt camera that must be installed. Where did you hear this? I am a fed ex Ground contractor and we got a list of approved vendors to choose from that would work with the new safety tech compliance program. Omnitracs themselves have a camera and for the lane departure/collision warning I'm going with mobile eye. We have a lot of wiggle room with choice.
I know I'm not speaking for all contractors but I tried to pick the least invasive cameras for my drivers. Honestly like many have said, I don't have time nor do I want to listen in to my drivers or watch them. Its definitely a pain and a lot of money on our end, but I see the perspective of safety tech from both sides. It's such a fine line between giving my drivers the autonomy they crave but also wanting them to know I'm 100% there for them. Just my two cents!X-Country, LoneCowboy and jtaran06 Thank this. -
I just looked my guy has the lyxt. -
There was about 7 or 8 differ t options as far as less invasive I would say Lyra and Omnitracs most invasive is smartwitness they have a two camera set up one directly on driver at all times but sound is able to be turned off between lytx and smartwitness I've installed about 50 of them now and every single contractor I talk to hates the idea but has no other option if they want to keep their contracts come September so they were taking advantage of the credit they were offering highly doubt anyone would have time to look at footage 24/7 and if they do this is not someone you want to work for anyway cuz they will always find something

Driver facing cameras are an invasion of privacy. Considering the cab and sleeper of a truck are the drivers home how would you feel if there was a live camera in your house every day. The FedEx contractors better smarten up and band together and fight this because you have the company with it;s back to the wall. Do you rally think if half the fleet doesn't get these cameras they aren't going to dispatch anyone on August 1st. They would lose millions of dollars a day and as a publically traded company, it would be a PR nightmare. In addition FedEx can't find enough qualified drivers to begin with. Smarten up people and fight this. You aren't employees of FEDEX. Start acting like small business owners.
