I will be honest, the best way to show the TM that you mean business is a personal visit in proper attire. We have had applicants come in to the terminal in shorts and t shirts wearing sandles following up on application and my TM was not too pleased about it. lol

That's a great way to make the right impression.

Word to the wise, folks. Don't emulate the behavior you see in truck stops.

I guess I'll have to keep a nice pair of everything in a vacuum bag whenever I decide to travel down towards there. I've been applying like crazy to various, line-haul and P/D gigs down there in Phoenix and still nothing yet. Like I've mentioned in other threads, it's been a slow-go with daycab gigs in Phoenix, ABQ and Austin. Meanwhile, Denver and other cold cities have been a hot potato for me when it comes to applying and getting a reply.
Yeah, the work may be there, but the drive to actually uproot to a cold city has been kind of low on my priority list. What seems to turn a lot of people off for Phoenix(aka, the heat) seems to entice me. That and I believe the rent/housing prices are still quite reasonable in many areas of the Phoenix metro than anything I've found in Colorado.

I'm the opposite. Denver is such a cool city, I'd take a good job there in a heartbeat. I spent two Ohio summers working days in a truck without working air conditioning. I can't imagine attempting that feat in Phoenix.

At my terminal (and most, typically) there are less than half as many linehaul drivers as there are P&D drivers, so there is a much greater likelihood of a P&D opening. They also offer linehaul openings to city drivers first, so it's not common to have to hire a driver from outside the company for linehaul.

In my case it took a year doing city work before I was able to get a linehaul gig at my company. Granted, I'm sure that varies at different companies, but it may explain why you don't see linehaul jobs posted. You may have to get your foot in the door doing P&D first.

Got more than enough job offers up there, but of course I get clowned on for turning them down. I still eventually want to move onto somewhere else down the line. But NM is pretty much home for the time-being and CO is just a state on the "visit only" list. Although I might have actually considered it before all the pretty people converged on the area within the past, few years.
