If you have time to be here, you have time to research.
If you need one of us to look it up, though, we can oblige. What state are you in?
I have to agree with @Ke6gwf. As long as you keep it small and utilitarian (you would probably even be fine with a pocket knife with a maximum 3" blade), if it's used in your day to day work, it should not be a problem. In fact, if you're gonna have a box knife, I would recommend a sheath of some kind, you wouldn't want that thing to open in your pocket. Personally, I think a 3" folder is your best option, just keep it sharp. That's the size I've carried for years, and it fits easily in your pocket.

    Ke6gwf Thanks this.

I agree... Google is your friend... If you have time to post here then you have time to research instead of asking others to look it up for you..

    A 16-FOOT BLADE?

You must LOOOOOOVE "concealing" that. If you can, props to you, sir, I would consider that a tremendously marketable skill.

Perhaps you actually meant a 16" (inch) blade. Even so, I might even pay to see someone "conceal" that!:D

Highly doubt you'd get popped for this sort of thing, except perhaps as a rider to more serious charges, and only in very left-leaning coastal metro areas. What's your primary theater of operation? That will help determining if this is even something that needs consideration.

Y'all are nicer than I am. That was just rude. "Please research it. I don't have time". Really? Wow.

Yes you need to openly carry your boxcutter at all times.....especially in airports.

Just find your state on here to figure out your local laws.

On a side note.. I wonder how that would work with school deliveries since all weapons are prohibited on school property. I am guessing most places turn a blind eye as long as you just cut the shrink wrap and then conceal it again?

"IS THIS A WEAPON, OR A TOOL?" asked the cop. The driver stated, "It's a tool that I use on my job, to open shrink wrapped pallets." More than likely, the cop will respond, "OK, have a good day."
"IS THIS A WEAPON, OR A TOOL?" asked the cop. The driver stated, "It's a tool that I use on my job, to open shrink wrapped pallets, but there are times it could be used for defensive purposes." Well now, a bit of a different story, depending on where you are.
Trust me, there are places where the second answer would get you a nice tight pair of bracelets, and sort of screw up the rest of your day.....

Remember two things. First and foremost, USE YOUR FREAKING HEAD! Second, talk to the officer, as you would like to be talked to. Which of course, is really just part of the first thing...
