exactly, but it sure is nice to be quicker from stops. I found with my automatic I could focus entirely on driving turns and not have to think about shifts or glance down at my RPMs.

I drove most of my time on surface streets delivering gasoline and I can tell you that I ran across so many jackrabbits it became funny. Even if I was loaded up with 12450 gallons of gas in the long run I'd still roll up just behind the race truck down the street. He'd maybe be sitting there longer but when the light turned green we were both just starting out. But, sometimes I'd go around the truck because I'd be already rolling and he'd be stopped. If you want to race between stops that's your business. As long as your safe and not putting anyone in danger go ahead. I just think you can make it longer in the business being a relaxed driver and not all twisted up with anxiety.

"Twisted up with Anxiety" So there's no anxiety at all when your truck is taking like forever to get going from a stop and a Gazillion 4 wheelers(and other trucks) have to quickly come around you and then kind of cut you off as they come back in front of you.......oh yeah; No Anxiety there whatsoever.... I don't know about you but I'll take the anxiety that comes from being the "Dumper" rather than the "Dumpee"

    I tell you what
Go get yourself the highest horsepower truck you can, have it tuned way up to like 800 horse... and then you won't feel so dangerous... have fun paying your fuel bill if you constantly drive like that..

CREngland's website has a bunch of training modules you can download, one of them advocates being a 'rock in the stream' meaning you go 2-3 miles per hour slower than the speed limit and it eliminates all that anxiety. Just relax and let all that traffic flow around you.

How to get a manual to out run the auto to the 60......start with pushing the clutch in... rev it to about 1800.....then let your foot slip off the clutch and floor the gas pedal! Also start in 5th!!

    Hahahahaha

Just remember, the best way to recover a gear with this technique is to set the parking brake, walk back, and pick it up.
