Do you drive sleepy more frequently on elogs than you did when using paper logs

I had to look up Feng Shui to be honest I've never heard of that, well it means Wind-Water, so I guess we can all sleep better if we were on sail boats so we can be in the same direction every night. That's my take.

I'm always a bit confused here. What exactly does the elog change vs paper? We still have the same hours and same rules.

Or are you saying that paper logs are safer because you can do whatever you want HoS be ######?

Doesn't that actually make it less safe? So you can drive longer and what? Or is the unsafe part because you can't drive for six hours, take a three hour nap and then drive for five more? (You can do that btw, that's 14hrs).

Overall I'm just confused. Also it doesn't help that the few people that I've met running on paper have either been bragging about how they can bring home $3k a week from their 7k miles they can drive since they go 20 hours a day or have been drunk in the truck stop bar and didn't care about anything.

I thought it was fat. Isn't the fat the problem?

Have to say your right, I do see were all the drivers are coming from as far as freedom to do what you want, I've been on paper for decades and now Elogs, the good part is when some useless broker says the load has to deliver over night and you've been up all day, not going to happen.

    It's a lost argument.

Between those of us that know how to truck. And can do it safely. With those that love being on a leash. We can't teach them what trucking should be like. Because they refuse to listen. Or understand.

And another argument. I"m still trying to figure out how they can say it's safer.

And yes. I drove tired on the 2 months i had logs. Because GOD FORBID. You should have no control over the clock. Sorry ROOKIES. My body don't function with a leash. So talk away. Keep that crap rolling off your tongue.

Elogs.......... The crutch some truckers have prayed for, because they fail to stand up for themselves, sorry just how I see it!! Just because some of us still use paper doesn't mean you can be pushed or bullied.

I think the current regulations encourage drivers to drive tired and sleepy, elogs or paper. They encourage drivers to drive by the regulations, not by what their body tells them. In other words, when the regulations say you can drive, you've got to drive, regardless if you are tired, if you want to max your miles.

On paper logs, you can "cheat" to where you driving habits more reflect what your body tells you.

I a perfect world, you'd drive when you are rested, and sleep when you are tired. The government, it all its wisdom, thinks to know when you need rest.

IMO, the main problem is the 14hr rule. Do away with that and most log issues go away.

I say all this as mostly a outsider. We may travel past 100 miles maybe once a month and when we do, we are almost never close to running out of hours.

I did run into a issue with one of my drivers one time. He had a 10 hr drive with a tight schedule. Problem was he had a breakdown and sat for 5hr. Legally, instead of the load being just 5hr late, he would have to take his 10 one hr out and make the load being a minimum of 16 hrs late. I plead the 5th on that one.
