I picked up on the smaller intake crossover tube from the turbo too Saturday. I knew immediately I'd be putting a new turbo on anyway, got more play in the shaft than i want. That'll allow me to buy the biggest one i can put on, possibly a better manifold and get the bigger crossover tube from another parts engine.
Hopefully this will work out as planned.

What about injectors? A few other things. A bigger turbo ain't the only piece your gonna need lol.
Oxbow, W900AOwner, Tug Toy and 1 other person Thank this. -
Dont know much about the smaller hp Bs.
I do remember back when tony was the guy he said those 310 economy engines wouldnt take much fuel. Something about everything had to be changed to make power.
Too bad is wasn't a 425. 7fb. Now those would make some serious hp. -
@wore out is correct. That particular engine was built and shipped as a 310 hp B model.
Oxbow, wore out and spyder7723 Thank this. -
Also, was built in April 1986.

The pistons are the main limiting factor on these for 2 reasons, they are a higher compression ratio, and the top compression ring is much closer to the top of the piston and that alone limits how much heat they will stand befor cracking. The nozzles and fuel pump cam are also different and it may possibly have single valve springs as well.

What's the 3012 fuel pump cam cost these days. Upwards of 2k chances of finding used are slim?
Kinda like the big turbo to intake pipe. I gave 250 for the one I have used. I haven't used it in forever but I don't want to sell it. B models are getting more scarce by the dayE model Cat man Thanks this. -

It's the 7FB 425 pump cam. 21 degrees
The 4MG was a 3013 18 degrees that's also when they changed the advance from the spring return style.Oxbow Thanks this. -
But you don't know yet, it could be a 350 already. I highly doubt that though. I drove a brand new 88 Western Star 10 wheeler dump for a guy with a 3406B/310HP from the factory. Dumps were lower HP back then for whatever reasons. Nowadays these kids order 600's just to haul 10 loads of dirt around town.
Never know till you start diggin'.
