I have been having a run of short days too. 350 miles then an 18hr break before doing another 380.

 

Thanks, a dirt lot will do just fine. Already got showered and fed before I got here.

 

It will be after 6 but I will try the haute cuisine rathole first then walmart and RCs hideout if the rathole is full.

 

When you get off of the freeway, heading towards the Yale yard, you will see plenty of room on either side of the road in which to park your truck.

If you choose this option, and spend the night there, the local constabulary will eventually be around to pound on your truck and tell you to move. At that point, you can ask one of the nice young constables for directions to the nearest place you can park overnight. They told me several the last time I was there, including one just on the other side of the freeway.

The roadways are not marked with no parking signs, so I don't know why the local police has an issue with truck parking there, but they do.

 

I have sent in begin trip, arrive cons, empty cons and end trip in the space of 3 minutes when I forgot to do any of them on a load once.

 

Not brave enough to try shoulder or ramp parking yet. A little while ago I ran into a former Abilene driver at a truckstop that showed me pictures of the aftermath of his truck getting hit at highway speeds while he was sleeping on a ramp. It looked nasty, worst part about it was he had a freightliner like mine and only 1 number off my truck number.
