In LTL we drive in a lot more diverse traffic. Is it just in Omaha, or do way too many truckers have a cell phone plastered to their ear? Like 4 wheelers, when someone is driving too slow, wandering out of their lane, or changing lanes without signaling, I've started assuming they're talking on a cell phone. Way too often, I'm right. With bluetooth's so cheap, there's no reason. Why and what to do?

I don't know what to do about it but I've noticed it as well. Aside from safety, the fines alone are enough to keep a phone out of my hands while driving.

Here's something interesting; Las Vegas cab companies banded together to fight Uber. They have a system at major places where people call cabs; for example you tell the bellhop you need a cab and he pushes a button at the desk and the nearest cab shows up from which ever company has the nearest cab. None of the cab companies are competing with each other now and it's evened the playing field for all of them. It's a problem for Uber.

IF the #### Dispatcher will PUT that stupid phone down and leave those freaking drivers ALONE. In peace and quiet.....

That's like walking into a retail store where everyone intercoms everyone else over the PA system if the object of the message is two cashier lanes over.

I run a truck, not a ###### call centre. My dispatcher has gotten good at leaving me text messages. I check my phone between stops.

On a side note, I do have customers that want to contact me directly and bypass my company desk jockey... So yeah, I'll be on the phone when I am driving. While cell phone use is highly frowned upon and illegal in our career field, as a professional driver I feel it is no different than law enforcement who is entirely exempt from local or state law.

Tough titties, most P&D does not run Qualcomm. It is what it is.
