I always make them simply since everyone has different levels of computer savvy.

Finally got a hold of ones of these. I swear Petro/TA had a monopoly on these until I found a flying j that had it. Haven't really had a chance to try it out yet but I do have the few remarks.

1.) the 740 is heavier and more rugged than the 730. As a result it feels much higher quality.
2.) the magnetic mount is wonderful. Love it
3.) map updates are confusing to find. I thought they would be in the system update screen but you have to actually open the motor carrier atlas for updates.
4.) device seems very fast. Routes take seconds to find.
5.) I'm tapping something unintentionally and it's making the blue bar on top go away and it's hard to get back.
6.) this is a nitpick, but alot of the screens looked like they were directly pulled from the older TNDs. It makes them look out of place (for example guided address entering).

    That's it for now.

    3. - that is the MCRA maps, not the maps used for routing. Click on the Cog and you will see the Truck GPS starting, then on the right click for System Update for Versions, POI's, Maps, etc.

    5. - explain more.

    6. - if you set under skin type for Classic then yes the skins mostly under Choose Destination are the older skins. This allow those used to one set of screens to use the same set.

Never mind on #5. I'm dumb. Was moving the map around.

Noted for the update. I only saw a tiny OS update so I guess was expecting more there. I see the maps are from April so theyre recent.

With #6, I do have the modern skin enabled but if you tap the guided search button it pulls up the old ui. Just a very minor nippick with the old ui looking out of place. Though I don't know why the old ui doesn't use the Android keyboard.

I do like the device so far and happy i returner the 730 for it.

One suggestion though. I notice the GPS has Bluetooth, but you can't output the audio through Bluetooth, only through the aux port.

Anymore info?..I'm trying to decide on the latest Garmin or RM.....I run the RM 720....Any RM I have ever had has had freeze-up and shutdown issues , had to return a 710 and they replaced a 720 for $100.00....I also have a old Garmin, never had an issue with anything, still running after 7 yrs. I don't know may just go with the Garmin Dezi 770LMHD 7 inch HD screen, RM has scared me off with freeze ups and returns. I'm a gadget girl, I run Garmin, and RM 510 and RM 720, then I cut my route the way I want several times ...lol, it just recalculates as you all know.

I have had the new 740 for a month now, so far i'm impressed
    here are my observations.
    1. The unit is much more sturdy than the 730, the charging cable is way better
    2. i like the magnet mount, however if you hit a bumpy bridge or bumpy roads it does tend to jar loose easily, I'm looking at maybe some thin double back tape to secure it.
    3. Had one crash total but only one and that has been it so far.
    4. miss not having the counties in the city display
    5. the unit is fast and accurate as RM usually is no complaints there.
one thing i am seeing and this is not the fault of the 740 is I'm beginning to think that GPS coverage is failing, the reason i say this is i lose not only my 740 GPS signal, but my new Dashcam 300 and my qualcomm, so basically all my GPS die in certain areas for some reason, especially between Louisville and Nashville, and now in Denver.

but other than some nitpick things so far so good

You can connect the GPS to the USB cable on your laptop, just have to do it manually
