I think I'm up to about 1500 so far. Delivery in Louisville in the am, then off to Brookville Indiana for... You guessed it another load of shingles, then head home for the weekend.
Heading to a truck show in Brookville Ohio this weekend.cke Thanks this. -
I average a little over 30,000 a year these days.

I would recommend Mercer Transportation out of Louisville, KY. They have a variety of customers and you will haul most anything. They do tend to avoid the cheap and heavy stuff like lumber and coils, but you can get those if you want and are in the right area. They are also an all owner operator company with 40 years of experience. They have a three day orientation, and then you will hit the road. Pay is usually settled within 24 hours of receiving your signed BOL.

I started my driving career with Roehl Transport in their flats division. Relatively big company out of Wisconsin, with flats, vans, reefers & a few dozen terminals and/or yards spread across the country. I am so glad I started with them. They have an excellent orientation for newbies to flats, usually held in Gary, IN. I cannot think of any type of cargo that I DIDN'T haul in my 1.5 yrs with them. The only reason I left was to move on to a smaller family-run company (COTC, no longer technically family-run) that had more freight going thru my home in Reno. I am now pulling intermodal from Oakland, Mon - Fri, with option to be home every night.
I've heard that TMC also has a broad customer base. And wherever you decide to go, STAY AWAY FROM PRIME. Since I started in 2012, I haven't met ONE happy driver from their flats division!
YMMV
Good luck -

Maverick flatbed division hauls coils, shingles, lumber, pretty much anything a flatbed can haul. They also have a glass division and a new boat division. Ohio is a great area for Maverick.
