I hear ya there, man. I get a lil' weekend "bonus," as well. Usually the weekend runs get handled by the bossman himself; think he wants to enjoy the "holiday" , LoL! Be safe tho, you know how 'DAD'S' can be... any reason for beer and, not always responsibly....ie: on the road.

No,no,no,no,no. Still Company. I'm having a hard time understanding the O/O side of tankers. It's a wee bit more complicated than dryvan, IMO. I think my company used to have O/O running for them, but I know they double and triple broker loads so I'm not sure how much I would actually end up with. We have an awesome broker we go through, but I wouldnt want to quit as a company driver and then steal their loads from their own broker.

I like most of the loads we do, but we run a crapload of miles. I'd rather work less for more money than work more for less money.

Sooooo well said. Me too. Boss man's been trying to get me to buy 1 or 2 of his when he retires... jury is still out. Got a few 7 years. If the MAIN contract went with them, hmmm.. The UPI flats in the winter; probably would need that to survive, also. At least I've got time to think.
@Cat sdp ... what say you?

I did a short run today, unloaded at a gp paper mill neat Baton Rouge. Got a empty at reserve LA headed to chemtall in ga to drop it off. Thank god I get paid the same to run empty, 625 miles with this empty would piss me off if not

That's what kills me about split pay.
*The following every taken from a conversation last Friday in Tampa.
"We pay .51 cpm. You should come work for us"
    No you don't.
    "What? Yes we do!"
No you don't. You said the runs are out and back and You pay .51 going to the customer and .37 coming back. You actually pay .44 as a whole. You have a .14 difference total. Divide by two and and add that to the lowest amount or take it from the top, either way......you pay .44
    "......but We pay .51......"

*sigh* I have to pee, I'll be right back *leaves, never to return again*

I have a lousy attitude towards split pay, sorry :(

Yea but the split pay company's usually pay higher demiurge and layover and even sleep in the sleeper.. so it makes up for it probably

Superior has split pay, but with all the accessorial pay it works out really nice. I averaged $.67/mi iirc as a company driver all in.

I have a lousy attitude towards companies that only pay mileage. You must admit driving an empty tanker is a lot easier in all conditions except ice and snow. I guarantee I will make more money at the end of the year with split pay for the same miles as a Schneider driver making my loaded rate on all miles. The only "pay" that matters is whats on the W-2 at the end of the year.
