I'm at the point where im frustrated. My 06 Columbia is bouncing/hopping. Seems to be coming from the rear. I have had the front end jacked up to have it inspected my mechanic said he doesn't see anything wrong there. A guy told me his truck was doing the same thing he replace the rear shocks and it solved the problem. Well I replaced my rear shocks and I still have the same issue. My steer tires are brand new and one guy said to check my rear tires i mean my rear tires are not brand new but they pass inspection. But i had them checked anyway my tire man jack both axles up and said they are fine.Best way I can describe what the feelings is the way a car rides when one of the tires have a knot in then. If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it.

It could be a out of round tire or a tire with a bad belt that's sticking up slightly.

First, jack it up and check the tires for out of round. If they are out and have enough tread left, shave them to make them run true again.

Then check your driveshaft slip joints. If they are siezed, it will cause the rear ends to bind when trying to move up and down.

Mine was the aluminum hubs on the back warped. I don't know if they still put those hubs on freightliners. Mine was 2001. Easy way to check drums, tires , wheels hubs is to jack the drive axles off the ground and run the back so you can see the wheels turning.

Also the slip yoke on the shaft between the drive axles is famous for binding up on those trucks. A tell tell sign is the air bags on the rear drives will be stretched out more than the front axle bags. Easy fix is to mark where the yoke and shaft sit now. Unhook the driveline from rear yoke. Pull the shaft out of the slip yoke clean it check splines and re hook it 180 degrees from where it was.

When my tire guy jacked up both rear axles. He let each set of tires on both axles spin while he stood behind them. Is the way you check for out of round tires? Also how do you tell if the slip joints on the drive shaft are seized? My mechanic had also looked at my drive shaft. I'm really lost now I have been spending money really only gambling trying to find the problem.

Yep, you have to jack up both drives on stands and run it and watch for wheels out of round.
