Since this thread is about Wolfman and his shop the last I knew he was in the hospital and not doing well. This was awhile back. I pray that he got through his illness and that he's doing well now....

"The Wolfman" - the old man there - did good work, built the former good reputation of that shop.

His kids, most notably D-rail, have trashed it since he retired. It's why Kevin split off and started Sonrise CB Shop.

 

First off, it's Sun Rise CB Shop. Secondly, Kevin didn't quit, he got fired.
But since we're on the discussion of Kevin and the problems with Wolfman CB Shop:
1. Kevin was the problem
2. The problem was eliminated.
3. Kevin was fired because he would do bull crap rush jobs on people's antennas, because that was his job, an antenna man not a CB technician, and he caused damage to several radio systems which (Big Shocker) the 2 kids in the radio shop replaced or if their pockets.
4. Kevin's tune isn't even a tune. He charges $80 to convert a radio and cut a limiter. Go buy a Connex, remove the resistors at the bottom of the board and cut tr32, there's your Kevin tune.
5. Kevin uses nothing more than a dosy meter and tunes on channel 20 whole splattering all over the band. It's basically the end result of an all night waffle house binge, goes in smothered and covered, comes out scattered and spattered. I'd rather use a technician with over 10 Grand in test equipment so I know I have spectral purity and a clean sign wave.

Kevin is nothing more than a hack and a lier. Why do you think the locals key on him every time he tries to advertise. Educate yourself, you sound ignorant.

 

Anyone that cuts a limiter is a hack...
Anyone that works on cb radios with nothing but a Dosey watt meter and a cheap freq counter is a hack...

 

You can say that as far as tuning goes. But I know one that only uses a Bird meter and not much else, BUT, he can fix most anything and rarely has to refer to a schematic. He knows his stuff as far as repair goes.

I'm not even a tech (but I keep the good ones busy), and I have more gear on my bench than 98% of the so called shops out there... Here is a rundown, tell me what you think..
1. Recently refurbished Sencore CB-42
2. HP 5315B counter just calibrated
3. Kenwood SM220 scope
4. Watt meter with PEP and AVG
5. Heathkit VTVM
6. Digital VOM
7. 300w dummy load

I see so many shops that don't even have a way to generate 1000hz tone. They do have an app for that for your phone...

 

My next addition will probably be a 100mhz USB or tablet scope.
