Carrying a gun is not against the law,as long as you are legal to own one. It's mostly against a company policy.
Is it illegal to carry a gun in a commercial vehicle?

If you aren't breaking any LAWS, law enforcement won't rat you out to the company. If you're delivering at a private corporation, there are limits as to what sort of searches they may perform. Hell, an old high school friend of mine is an armed guard at a nuclear power plant...and is responsible for vehicle searches for anyone entering the facility. He's allowed a "plain sight" search. He cannot open cabinets, lift the bunk, tear open the dash, dig through closed containers, etc. If it is sitting on the passenger seat, he'll find it. If it's in a duffle bag under the bunk, he won't. Now a military base or other government facility, they can perform a more intrusive search. Private security at a private company is a joke, and while I may open my door so they can peek inside, that's as far as it goes. "Out of sight, out of mind" is a pretty good rule of thumb...especially if your company doesn't permit you to have something.

Back in the 80's,living in arizona,i had pistols, rifles n used to buy n sell n trade em like baseball cards. We'd go out in the desert n shoot eggs darn near every weekend.I carried n new how to handle a gun. That was then.
I have a few now-at home.Personally-i dont feel the need to keep/have one in my truck. To be any good to me-i'd have to be carrying that pistol ####ed n in my hand-otherwise-what good is it in my holster w/the safety on?As i round the back of my trailer-all of a sudden theres a pistol in my face---------i really dont think the dude is going to let me unclip my holster, pull out my gun,pop the safety off n #### it,then point it at him.
Just my thought.
I'd be scared now in this crowded world that my bullet would go into a car or apartment building(scary thought)!
Plus-guns are LOUD!Silence is golden.I rely on keeping aware,my hardwood tire thumper n my knife.Best bet is to DISARM your assailant-make sure he is hospitalized for a long time-keep your mouth shut n roll on.51.50 Thanks this. -
Yes, you can carry in a CMV.
No FMCSR covers it.
But.....
Firearm, Magazine capacity, Ammunition, method of carry/storage, and location in vehicle HAS to meet ALL State and Local laws wherever you are at.
"Company Policy" is NOT the law.
Be wary of ANY company or driver who tells you the lie that it is illegal to carry in a CMV.
Go to a site that specializes in the subject of firearms carry for best answers.
I carried in every location I went to without problem.
KNOW your laws and you will be okay.Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
