Well hes teaching you how to float, go watch some YouTube on double clutching and try to get it down (when your alone) it is a skill you WILL require. Some places will let you float, but you have to test using double clutching to prove you can controll the truck exc...

I did actually ask him how to double clutch, he said he didnt know, so either he didnt want to bother with it or wanted to keep it simple?

I think he actually knows, because he knows the trucks inside out...part by part...all the bins are fabricated by him including the truck parts (well atleast the ones he can get the shop guys to do without ordering)

He mentioned think of it as if your on a swing. When you get to top of swing thats your opening to shift... Lol I dont know if that was a good comparison

Not bad, ive heard worse. Double clutching is not that hard, its a rhythm thing. Not that different from floating, just your left leg is moving, when you do start, remember just enough clutch to disengage NOT to the floor, hell, not even half way down. Clutch goes all the way down ONLY to engage a gear from dead stop.

Ok. Waiting for him to call back...

What was that mack truck I seen with the half cab

The reason why he doesnt double clutch he said because it saves the knees, you dont need to be monkey...hes also 65 though...definitley knew what he was doing.... Let the truck roll, minimal shifting, he seemed like a really fuel efficient driver kept alot of space wasnt chasing lights...just let the truck roll to the light....actually he barely even used the break unless he really needed too

Sounds like alot of us here. Nothing wrong with his methods at all. Just know your gonna want to learn. You may not always be driving his trucks...

Nice. For some reason im not as excited as I should be after training for free with someone else and then they pulled out the whole self employment deal.... Pay your own taxes...they own the truck pay fuel, blah blah blah...it didnt seem right. Like they were cutting corners or something and id get screwed come tax time.because im really employee not a subcontractor. So I left that... Have not made any money and about to make no money again

Dont remember the model number of that mack, but they were very popular here in the lower for rolloff trucks for quite a few years

Atleast I didnt get screwed the hard way with the other company, and this is similar as I was driving a dump truck but it was automatic .When they asked me if I had a lawyer I drove there locked the key in truck and said sayanara

Pay your own taxes, pension, liable for their truck, paving equiptment, on call day and night, pulled out some ridiculous contract and asked if I had a lawyer. I just wanted to be an employee...dont know what the hell they were doing or what their plan was, possibly write me off at end of year, or smash their truck and sue me( air break were leaking, guy was happy to buy 300 lights for trucks but not repair air leak was actually pissed I noticed, truck shifted on it own with air breakes applied)
