Start in 2nd or 3rd unless your under a heavy load. Then its 1st or second depending on if your pointed uphill or on level ground.. it really is as easy as rev up to close to 18, lay of the pedal pull or push the stick into neutral, (not hard just steady pressure) it will fall out of gear where it wants, dont stop your motion, just straight into the next gear. You will be at the bottom of the power band, round 12 or so, get back on the go pedal and repeat. When going from low to hi or vice versa, switch the toggle BEFORE you go into neutral. Downshifting takes a little more practice...

Side switch is your deep reduction. (Double granny) you really never use it unless you are extremely heavy or very steep hills, when in deep reduction you can not go into high range

Watch this, when it says "clutch brake" that is ONLY to engage a gear, then he is accelerating to 15-1800 revs, lays off the pedal and moves the stick. When downshifting he is dogging the engine down to 1000 or so, then a goose of the gas pedal and pressure on the stick it pops into neutral. Then gas (in neutral) to around 1700, light pressure on the stick and it will fall into the next gear down..

You can skip up or down based on speed, weight, ect...

The biggest things i will stress is are these

1.know your road speed for when you need high or low, i.e. 25mph and faster, high, 24mph and slower, low range.

    2. You have time, all the #### time you need. You can coast from 55 down to 20 in neutral and just pick 4th or 5th, give it gas to match revs to road speed and it will fall into gear

Note, it is not suggested that you coast that much, but just for example you can.
