Got a load I was supposed to deliver today 8am and now its past 10am and Im stiill waiting to hear from dispatch.
I've called consignee today before 8am to confirm delivery address and was told "you can't deliver it today, we cant offload you. You'll have to bring it by Thursday"
My dispatch said to deliver Monday 8am. Called dispatch and "they're trying to figure out what to do"
Nearest company yard is 50 miles away. If I was local Id drop it in yard and go home.
This is not first time they stiffed me like this.
Im going to look for another company to lease onto cause this company has done me wrong more than once. Looking for more dependable flatbed company to work with.
What are your suggestions as what to do next?
Can you deliver it later?

Are u charging them by the hour for waiting around?
Ruthless Thanks this. -
Ok, first off. Why could you not deliver it in time. Late pickup time, no address or what was the reason. Then we might be able to offer more suggestions

$500 a day to sit in a hotel and not burn fuel. That's my rate anyway. I don't see how your company is to blame though, this is trucking.

I was able to keep delivery appt time at 8am. I called consignee around 7:40 to tell them I'll be there by 8am, that is when consignee told me they wont unload me today.
-
Oh, ok. Then start charging. You showed up anyway and got them to sign paper about not taking today. They can try and get out of paying saying you didn't show up on time

Dispatcher called me and did say that they moved delivery date to Thursday, however nobody told me that and I was going to deliver today.

Detention charges generally start after 2 hours of an appointment time, and can range from hourly to daily rates. Hourly detention is roughly around $50 to $100.00 an hour and daily I always like to see between $150.00 to $500 dollars a day. Personally, I would take it the 50 miles and drop it, up-charge for my milage/time and keep rolling.
However, if you are leased on with a company they will usually collect detention for you, and you may or may not see the payment. That all depends on how good the company is to their drivers. Sounds like you may be getting the short end of the stick, and might think about looking for a new company to work with. Do you own your own rig? You can message me if you are interested in more info on a good company to work with.

I am a bit confused, you are an O/O right?
Then tell the company either they come up with compensation for the delivery, pay for the load to be delivered to the yard or pay you to bring the thing back to the shipper. If they are unclear what to do, make a decision for them and tell them what's going to happen.
What i would do is tell the "dispatcher" it goes back to the shipper and the load is paid in full after I show up to the consignees and told that in person.Spartan0229 Thanks this.
