60k is good money. At H&A it would be possible to double that . At 23 years old it's a no brainer.

 

What terminal will you be running out of.

 

I will be the negative nanny lol. I would keep the home daily gig you have over car hauling. Yes you can make better money but is the money going to outweigh getting to be home every night? If you find a honest guy or 3 working for them I would bet that you will find out that they are maybe making $20k a year more than you. The big thing in car hauling is you HAVE to want to be a car hauler. Secondly you ask yourself...is the risk worth the reward? Car haulers are the postmen of trucking. Rain/sleet/snow you name it we are out in it loading/unloading or driving. Just things to think about before you jump ship at your current job.

 

If you don't think the extra money will be worth it then you better not try it because you could be right.
If you don't really want to haul cars and work your butt off fetching cars don't leave a cushy job.
That said, from some of the drivers I have spoken to in Jacksonville there is money to be made there and can be home often. Some loads out of Jacfl you break the bank and other shippers it's just ok. But a brand new driver probably won't be getting the money loads day one. You prove your worth to the dispatcher and you will eventually get the money loads. It is like many jobs, you won't make the money at first and may take you a while to find a routine that suites you. There is plenty of north/south freight in Fla so if you want to work it is available, but it doesn't seem like you really want to be a carhauler. It is the hardest trucking job you will ever have.

 

But in the end, the carhauler always gets the girls.

 

You figure that out, in the best case scenario you will be making $80,000 which is 35% increase for a very intensive labor work.
Than, you will pay more taxes and real gain wouldn't be what you really think.
If it's me, just to become an employee I wouldnt take it jut for a sake of home time. You will be feeding uncle sam, your town, state.

Unless you want to learn and become independent. I make $250k clean, home 14 out of 15 weekends, basically no holidays.
And it's very difficult and stressful.
I plan to leave it behind in 2 years and find a local job
